Website Team Responsibilties........

The websites breakdown into 5 areas all of which then come under the RGJRA webring umbrella.

1. Website team controlled RGJRA websites
2. Website team controlled non RGJRA websites and special projects
3. Independant RGJRA websites
4. Independant non RGJRA websites
5. The RGJ Database

In the case of areas 1 and 2 all roles within the website team are interchangeable and anyone of the team can step up and take over whichever role as and when required

1. Website team controlled RGJRA websites

Responsibilties are as follows

Webmaster - Kevin Stevens
Deputy - Mark Adams

Internet
London
Suffolk
Northwest
Australasia
Durbar
McFlab
Oxford
Management Board
Green Jacket Close
Winchester

The day to day running of these websites, updates etc are covered by the Webmaster with the Deputy Webmaster as backup . The day to day running/administration/control of guestbooks are left to the Deputy Webmaster. The busiest website in terms of updates and guestbook entries is, by far, the Internet Branch followed by the London, Suffolk, Australasian and Northwest branches. Of these both the Australasian and London branch websites have recently undergone complete rebuilds, the Suffolk branch is currently having some internal work done on it but a major rebuild is not planned at this stage. Winchester is in production and should be launched by 1st July 2007.

2. Website team controlled non RGJRA websites and special projects

Webmaster - Ken Ambrose

RB
KRRC
RGJ Database Manager
RGJ Photo Archives (with Bert Henshaw and the RGJRA Webmaster as part of the production team)
Sandpit
Wiltshire

The RB and KRRC are self explanatory. Wiltshire Branch although an RGJRA website has been run by Ken Ambrose since its inception and remains so. The Sandpit is for those former Green Jackets serving in the private sector in Iraq and Afghanistan and is password protected, it is a strictly controlled members only website. Only those working or having worked there are allowed access to the members area allowing secure communications between members.

The RGJ Photo Archives currently house nearly 25000 photos and is growing weekly. Ken Ambrose does the album building and posting, the RGJRA Webmaster does the initial preparation with 90% of the photographs coming from Bert Henshaw x 1RGJ. We do of course actively encourage anyone else to contribute their photos. Included in the archives are also every swift and bold, the RGJ newsletter and any other magazine we have been able to obtain which has been printed since 1966.

3. Independant RGJRA websites

Milton Keynes
Bands and Bugles
Telford
Witney Oxon ACF
Botley Oxon ACF

These are completely independant with no actual input from ourselves however we enjoy a good working relationship with them exchanging ideas and information.

4. Independant non RGJRA websites

Special Forces
NI Memorial Garden
LOFI
Soldiers of Oxfordshire
Cockleshell Heroes

The above are a collection of websites that have a link with us through historical connections. The Special Forces is self explanatory given the soldiers we have supplied to them over the years, The NI Memorial Garden speaks for itself whilst the "Last Out First In" is the website that General Sir Robert Pascoe KCB MBE is involved in. S of O is again historical covering the old Ox and Bucks and Oxfordshire Yeomanry. The Cockleshell Heroes is the website of Tony Downton formerly 1 RGJ Band who with his wife re-enacted the epic journey of the cockleshell heroes.

These sites request the link with us and we maintain a dialogue with them. We are also often asked to advertise other websites though they do not necessarily have a Green Jacket theme, these are primarily x RGJ members who wish to advertise their businesses and we are of course happy to do so.

5.  The RGJ Database

The RGJ Database has been recently developed by Bill Shipton and brings together the databases formerly held by RHQ Winchester (previously opertated by Kelston Ltd) the RGJRA Database based in Oxford, the RGJRA Internet Branch controlled by Ken Ambrose and the Officers Club controlled by Lt Col Jan-Dirk von Merveldt.  This is a major advancement for the association.  The day to day running of the database is now controlled by Ken Ambrose, Mike Marr and Ja-Dirk von Merveldt.

In addition to the above we operate the following.

1. Production of mobile telephone regimental ring tones to order - 1500 supplied so far. The latest was for the RGBW or Jolly Farmers as they referred to themselves. These are created by Ken Ambrose using specialist software he purchased.

2. The "In the news" bulletin board. All events are posted here in addition to being placed on branch websites.

3. Members database. The database manager is Ken Ambrose who now has 1800+ on his system on a stand alone machine not connected to the internet for security purposes.

4. Email forwarding service. Controlled by Ken Ambrose again it gives our members a secure way of making initial contact with someone.

5. The "In Memorium" bulletin board. Anyone can post a message here concerning the death of a serving or former officer/soldier. Gen Jones was added by Steve Kinrade and people have used the board to leave their memories of him.

6. "Live Chat" - A live chat room recently added a real time chatroom to the Internet Branch.

All the above can be accessed from the Internet Branch.

Server Space Administration/financial support

The server space is paid for by John Gard through his company UKATS and any day to day admin problems concerning this is dealt with by him. We currently occupy space on 3 servers. Branches are not charged for their use of the web space but pay a bi-annual fee of approximately £5.00 to cover domain registration
